Nomadic Civilizations tour

The "Nomadic Civilizations" tour provides a unique overview of Mongolia's nomadic cultural heritage, and includes a day with a nomadic family, visits with lamas, and tours of the museums in Ulaanbaatar in the company of local specialists.
Tour Highlights
- Visit to the Orxon Valley World Heritage Site, where Chingis Xaan (Genghis Khan) established the capital of his great Mongol Empire
- Exploration of the archaeological heritage of ancient nomadic peoples (Xünnü, Xitan, Turks, Uighurs and early Mongols), and meeting with local archaeologists
- Visit to families of traditional nomadic herders, with a chance to participate in feltmaking and the processing of dairy products
- Tour of the historic sites and nomadic traditions of the Gobi
- Meetings with monks at Erdene Zuu and Tövxen Monasteries
- Opportunity to see hidden treasures of nomadic arts and history from the collections of Mongolia's museums
- Tour of Ulaanbaatar's unique heritage as a "nomadic capital"
- Meeting with rangers at the Xustain Nuruu National Park, where the Przewalskii's horse is being reintroduced to its native habitat
- Workshop on the preparation and use of traditional medicines
- Private lecture-performance featuring the exotic melodies of the urtiin duu ("long-song") and morin xuur (horse-head fiddle)
